VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS WISHES AND BLESSINGS

I am going to blink my eyes and Christmas will be over :(

As quick as it snuck up on us, It will pass us by as well.

I feel so incredibily blessed this year. There is nothing greater than this time, set aside, for the rememberance of the greatest gift ever given!!!

The Joy of the Lord that resides in my heart is my most valuable possesion, next to my salvation.

They Grow So Fast

Well it is official...I have a high school freshman and a junior high 6th grader :(
oh yea and a 40 hour a week job again. Busy busy life :) ALWAYS

Everything has gone rather great since school started back. Both the kids seem to enjoy all there classes. Bay stays busy with football and band. I LOVE my job!!!

Bayley's English teacher gave me an assignment on the first day of school what I graduated 17 years ago.
So being that English was my best subject in school,  I gladly accepted. Our parental assignment was to write a formal letter to her, the teacher, introducing our child to her and this was mine...

Dana Bailey
English 1
Snyder High School

Dear Ms. Dana Bailey,

My name is Amanda Steelman. I am the proud mother of Bayley Glen Steelman. He is my oldest out of two children. He has a younger sister named Sterling Paige Steelman, who just started JR High. His father, Tony, and I are still in shock that he is now a high school student. It seems like he was just walking around in his boots and a diaper. We are a very close knit family and do almost everything together. He was very excited to go to high school. He seems to enjoy school, especially football and baseball. He has grown up so much in the past year.

Bayley has always been a very good kid. He is very quiet, except when he is playing on his Xbox or yelling at his sister! My greatest challenge as a parent would have to be allowing my kids to grow up. There are so many joys to parenting; I don’t know where to start. I love watching them in their many activities. I love that they allow me to be included in their lives without getting embarrassed by my presence.  My proudest moment would have to be the day he asked my husband about salvation and he accepted Jesus in his heart. I feel truly blessed by the Lord to have two beautiful children.

I don’t believe that Bayley knows what he wants to do when he grows up. He would love to play major league baseball!! He has also expressed interest in youth ministry. He loves baseball and is very good at it. He is a catcher. He has made the all-star team the past 4 years. He also loves to play the drums. He is in the percussion section of the Snyder High School band and I am so excited to watch him play at half time (more excited than to watch him play football!!! Shhh!! ). Bayley also loves to shop (he gets that from me). I always thought my little girl would be my shopping partner, but it looks like it is going to be him. He has many friends and enjoys spending time with them. He is very blessed to have such a great group of friends and classmates.

We have also had our struggles with Bayley. When he was in the first grade, bruises stared appearing all over his body. At first we thought he was just playing rough. I was soon called by the principle of Stanfield to inform me that the nurse had noticed abnormal bruises. We then decided it was time to go to the doctor. His blood test came back that he had almost no white blood cells and was rushed to Lubbock for further testing. We spent the first night in the hospital paralyzed with fear of Leukemia. The following morning the results showed that he had ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenia Purpura) and praise God it was very treatable. Six months later he was in complete remission and we have seen no sign of its reappearance since.

Another obstacle we have had to overcome was some separation anxiety in the 3rd grade. He spent the first 6 weeks of school that year in the counselor’s office. I still have teachers, who remember him crying every day, ask how he is doing now.

He has come a long way from that scared little third grader. He seems to be more of a leader than a follower. I have confidence in him avoiding peer pressure. He is very responsible and organized. He doesn’t seem to care too much about what people think. He’s been known to come home from a sleepover because he was ready to go to bed and his friends would not be quite. He works hard to get what he wants. He can be a little selfish at times and he definitely has a lazy bone. He has the brightest blue gray eyes, yet his father and I both have brown eyes??? I still tuck him in at night and he still gives me kisses!!!

I believe he will do great in high school, especially English (it was my best subject). My greatest concern is him being overloaded with all of his extra-curricular activities and practices. My vision for him is mainly to always have true joy in his heart and to follow the path that God has set for his life.

Thanks so much for your interest in our family and my son. It means a lot!!!! If you ever has questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call.

Sincerely,

Amanda Steelman

Proud Mother

Flat vs. Poofy

I have decided that there are 2 types of women in the world...
There are the flat haired women, like myself, and there are the poofy haired women.

The flat haired women love their hair flat!!! The flatter the better!!! But no matter how good we think our hair looks, the poofy peeps still think we are obviously having a bad hair day.

Take my sister-in-law for example, who is also my hairdresser
She is obviously one of those poofy types!!

She tells me all the time "you need a haircut" which I have come to know means " girl ain't you got any body in that hair!!!"

NO I DON'T!!!! And I like that way!!!

Not only do us flat do peeps like our hair flat, it is also incapable of poof and ends up looking like a tangle mess, before it returns to prepoof formation in less then ten minutes.

I was blessed with a poofy hair step mom who was forever attempting to poof the in unpoofable!!!!

After many failed attempts and fights in the bathroom, consisting of me getting bonked on the head with the brush, this was her solution

A PERMED MULLET!!!!!! Really???!!!!

So to all my poofy peeps just wanted to let you know I love my flat hair and your proofing services aren't needed but thanks for your concern 😁

Another new chapter

This week ends another chapter in my life as I switch jobs yet again. The past 2 years have been kinda washy washy when it comes to my employment. I have had a blast working at the flower shop this past year, but it is back to the desk for me. I am returning to a job that I've had twice already!!! They must really love me if they willing to hire me back a third time 😜

I'm so excited but I am definitely going to miss the good times at the flower shop...

Here's some of my work...

Wow, HORRIBLE nail polish!!!

Can't believe it but I forgot to get a picture of the bridal bouquet.

And then my favorite time of year at the flower shop...

Good times!!!!
